Paul Simon Gave a Surprise Performance to Wrap Colbert’s First Week on The Late Show

When Stephen Colbert announced the guests for his Late Show’s premiere week, one name stood out: Troubled Waters, an act billed as “the world’s preeminent Paul Simon tribute band.” On Friday, the band lived up to that title—mostly because it was led by the actual Paul Simon.

Colbert, ever in character despite technically no longer being a character, refused to acknowledge Simon’s identity, but he did join the singer for a lively, whistle-laden performance of “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard.” Enjoy.
