Donald Trump’s opponents have so far been toothless in their takedowns of the candidate, but on Friday’s Tonight Show Trump finally met someone who could match his outsize confidence, relentless insults, and roundabout rhetoric.
That someone is himself, as played by Jimmy Fallon. In a brief, hilarious sketch, Fallon played the part of Trump, Trump played the part of his own reflection, and the two staged a conversation that’s equal parts pep talk, internal monologue, and free-associative policy discussion. The big news here? Kanye West, rather than Gary Busey, is now the frontrunner to be Trump’s running mate.
