The Video for Justin Bieber’s Acoustic Version of “What Do You Mean” Is Really Worth Watching

Justin Bieber’s hit single “What Do You Mean” has a potentially rapey message, depending on your interpretation of lines like “What do you mean when you nod your head yes but you wanna say no?” The official music video didn’t do much to assuage concerns: In it, Bieber stages a fake kidnapping to teach his girlfriend to trust him, which I think we can all agree is a bad idea from a legal, moral, and romantic perspective.

If that music video was insane in a very bad way, the music video for Bieber’s new acoustic version of “What Do You Mean” is insane in a very good way. The acoustic version showcases Bieber’s buttery tenor better than the original, but more important than the vocal performance is the glimpse the black-and-white video provides of Bieber’s everyday life. Apparently, when he’s not hugging fans or skateboarding, Bieber enjoys holding tiny dogs, donning deer antlers, making his friends eat out of his hand, and riding a hands-free scooter underneath the wing of his private plane. Stars: They’re just like us.
