Horror legend Wes Craven passed away last week, but the director’s terrifying creations will endure for some time yet. If you’re looking to make sense of Craven’s legacy, and if watching the best screams in his ouevre is a tad too blood-curdling for your sensibilities, there’s this video essay by Nelson Carvajal, which weds some choice Craven interviews with curated images of his best work.

The result is a deft and miniature portrait, one that sheds light on what Craven dubs the “innate, sort of dark sense of humor” that animates his movies.
