Stephen Colbert has already surprised us all with his country music chops, but here’s a little-known fact: He was once the lead singer in a Rolling Stones cover band called A Shot in the Dark.

On Tuesday’s Howard Stern Show, Colbert did his best Mick Jagger (“Am I turning you on?” he asks, just as Stern cuts him off) with some brief karaoke to “Brown Sugar.” His vocals are solid, but the performance takes off when Colbert leaps off the couch and launches into a Jagger-esque strut.
