Key & Peele’s New A Cappella Sketch Is an Instant Classic

Pitch Perfect made a cappella intense enough, but a new sketch from Key & Peele just upped the ante. Jordan Peele plays the lone young black man in his very peppy, very white, a cappella ensemble, until an interloping musician (Keegan-Michael Key) comes in and threatens to steal Peele’s group out from under him. “Do you have any idea how long it took for me to infiltrate this group?” Peele asks Key with a scowl after practice.

A lot of the comedy comes simply from how the two manage to deliver a master class in side-eye in between bouts of 8-part harmonies and “soulful” doo-wop fills, but the surprise button at the end (which we won’t spoil) casts the whole sketch in a new light.
