The folks at CineFix have often tackled broad themes in their countdown videos, but their latest attempts to quantify a particularly abstract quality: beauty. Obviously, there are many beautiful movies, and no objective way to parse the top 10. But as usual, CineFix’s list is detailed and diverse, aware of a ranking’s inherent futility yet intent on honoring everything from the one-shot wizardry of Russian Ark to the black-and-white haze of Manhattan.
One quibble: Despite dozens being worthy, not a single animated movie makes the cut, an omission sure to be mourned by anyone who’s seen a Miyazaki film.
