This New Hannibal Trailer Introduces the Red Dragon, and He Looks Terrifying

The second half of Hannibal’s third and final season on NBC will jump three years into the future, and it will feature a much-anticipated adaptation of Thomas Harris’ novel Red Dragon, the show’s Comic-Con panel revealed on Saturday. In a new trailer presented by the panel (who, adorably, wore flower crowns, as is the fashion for Fannibals), Richard Armitage (aka Thorin Oakenshield from the Hobbit movies) dons the tattoos and fearsome false teeth of the killer, who models himself after William Blake’s The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed With the Sun and murders entire families. The television adaptation will apparently jettison the Dragon’s propensity for raping the mother of each family, which is probably wise.

If you’ve been putting off watching the show, this extended sneak peek might just push you over the edge. The show’s crew probably hopes so, as it’s still struggling to find a new home following its cancellation on NBC.
