Watch the First Trailer for Sundance Hit and Oscar Favorite Brooklyn

Brooklyn, a romantic drama set in 1950s New York that got nothing but raves when it premiered at Sundance this winter, has already begun generating Oscar buzz as a likely Best Picture nominee. When you watch its captivating first trailer, you can begin to see why.

Director John Crowley’s adaptation of Colm Tóibín’s award-winning novel, from a screenplay adapted by Nick Hornby, follows a young Irish immigrant (Saoirse Ronan), as she leaves behind everything she knows in pursuit of the American Dream. But when she’s forced to return to Ireland, she must decide which life she wants: the one she built for herself an ocean away, or an equally enticing existence back where she used to call home—which comes with a side of Domhnall Gleeson. The film hits theaters in November, just in time for awards season.
