Last week brought our first glimpse of A Deadly Adoption, the not-so-secret Lifetime movie starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig. That teaser mostly comprised a bloody Ferrell looking scared, but the extended trailer, released today, reveals a lot more: Namely, that Ferrell and Wiig play an idyllic couple housing a pregnant lady whose unborn child they hope to adopt.
That doesn’t work out so well, since the lady in question is a tad deranged and a tad taken with Ferrell’s dad-bod wiles. What follows is the familiar jealous-lover-goes-rogue plot, but it’s worth noting how non-parodic this looks: The film was written by ex-SNL writer Adam Steele, but there’s nary a wink in the trailer, with Ferrell and Wiig playing their roles very, very straight. Of course, this could all be some savvy, misleading marketing for a camp classic; we’ll find out June 20, when the film premieres.
