Jerry Seinfeld Discusses “Creepy” P.C. Culture with David Remnick and Seth Meyers on Late Night

Comedy has always been a minefield, but some comedians—including Jerry Seinfeld—think it’s easier than ever to get blown to pieces for one misstep. Earlier this week, Seinfeld said that he doesn’t perform at colleges anymore because they’re too politically correct. On Late Night, he further explained his frustration with host Seth Meyers and New Yorker editor David Remnick, who occasionally fields accusations of offensiveness and insensitivity over the magazine’s covers and humor essays.

“They keep moving the lines in for no reason,” Seinfeld said. For his part, Remnick has plenty of controversial cover illustrations to defend, but noted he has never apologized. It was a thoughtful, fascinating discussion, whether or not you think Seinfeld’s gay French king joke is actually funny.
