Matt Damon Struggles to Survive on Yet Another Desolate Planet in The Martian

Matt Damon has been going to space a lot in the past few years, and it doesn’t always end well. In Ridley Scott’s The Martian, Damon plays Mark Watney, a NASA astronaut whose crew leaves him behind after a violent storm. With 30 days worth of supplies and a minimum of four years before help will arrive, Watney knows he’s “gonna have to science the shit out of this.”

Drew Goddard wrote the screenplay, which is based on Andy Weir’s novel, The Martian. A cast including Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Donald Glover, and Sean Bean, who hopefully won’t die too quickly, will have to figure out what to do about the fact that Damon is stranded on the Red Planet—and it might just involve a rogue mission to Mars. Damon’s Interstellar cast mate Jessica Chastain will also star, but no word yet on whether or not she’ll be able to unlock time travel again when The Martian hits theaters on Nov. 25.
