Bill Hader Opened the Apple Keynote With an Epic Musical About Apps

As Apple live streams its Worldwide Developer’s Conference this year for the first time, the company enlisted comedian Bill Hader to kick off the event. In a short video, the SNL alum, trailed by a lovestruck Charlyne Yi, plans an ambitious WWDC keynote presentation, complete with a giant Angry Birds mascot, a goat simulator, and an elevator full of “Tim Cook-alikes.”

Despite the elaborate preparations, Hader’s setup doesn’t go as planned. And so while the sketch certainly mocks new technology—Hader has his coffee delivered by drone—it also serves as an “origin story” of sorts for the simple presentations that Apple has come to be known for since the days of Steve Jobs.
