If The Shawshank Redemption Were an 8-Bit Video Game

The Shawshank Redemption is a very good movie with a massive cultural footprint, so it’s a bit surprising that the adventures of Ellis “Red” Redding and Andy Dufresne have yet to be adapted into what would be an equally good, tremendously gratifying RPG.

For now, we'll make do with Cinefix’s 8-bit videogame version of the film, which provides detailed, pixelated interpretations of all the movie’s best moments—the hard-earned beers on the roof, the escape through a Raquel Welch poster, the reunion on a Pacific beach. David and Henry Dutton, respectively, supply the lovely animation and score.
