Is The Wire’s tendency to use tautologies part of its fatalistic view that—unless you change the system—nothing really changes? (The game is the game, and the game is rigged?) Is it true to how Baltimoreans really talk? Or is it just a writing tic? I think we can all agree: It is what it is.
