Tina Fey Stripped Down to Her “Special Underwear” to Say Farewell to David Letterman

Leave it to Tina Fey to out-funny every farewell David Letterman has received so far as he prepares to leave the Late Show behind. As the two discussed Letterman’s coming retirement, Fey declared that this appearance, her 20^th on the show, would be the last time she wears a fancy dress on late-night television. “I dress up like this out of respect for you,” she explained.

It’s not like Fey would put in that kind of work for Jimmy Fallon or James Corden, she said, so from now on we can expect her to look like a schlub for all her TV appearances. And lest anyone doubt her commitment, she stripped off the dress on the spot, getting down to her Spanx. She said Letterman can keep the dress.
