Transformers Is a Lot Better as a 15-Minute Stop-Motion Film

If you’ve seen the Transformers movies, and—beyond being able to grasp their bloated, borderline incoherent plots—actually enjoyed them, good on you. For the rest of us, there’s this short movie by YouTube filmmaker Harris Loureiro, who uses stop-motion, some friends’ action figures, and a lot of patience to stage a brilliant showdown between the Autobots and Decepticons.

Loureiro spent six months making the film, and it shows: It’s an impeccably professional production that possesses a playful, tactile magic far superior to the CGI histrionics of Michael Bay’s work. Credit to Kotaku for unearthing this masterpiece; head over there for Mike Fahey’s delightful play-by-play of the film.
