It’s been overshadowed by all the Avengers hoopla, but Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot looks like a deeply personal superhero film, one that seems to eschew mythologizing for a more grounded narrative about four friends who just happen to be endowed with ridiculous, world-saving powers. (If that sounds familiar, it’s because it’s pretty much the same premise as Trank’s last film, Chronicle.) But though we’ve gotten a good look at Fantastic Four’s heroes, we’ve seen very little of its antagonist, Dr. Doom. The movie’s latest trailer, which leaked Sunday, gives us a long-overdue peek at the villain.
It’s a short glimpse, but a suitably epic one, and the rest of the trailer confirms that this cast—Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell—will bring lots of whip-smart banter and emotional depth to Marvel’s oldest superhero team.
