In many ways, Avengers: Age of Ultron is the prototypical blockbuster of our time: a sleek action extravaganza that’s packed to the brim with superheroes and which takes place in a never-ending narrative universe. But what if the film had been made 20 years ago? What if it debuted in 1995, and tussled with hits like Bad Boys, Apollo 13, and Batman Forever for box office supremacy?
The enterprising minds at Vulture sought an answer to that question, and recruited remix artist Louis Plamondon to make a throwback, extremely ’90s-esque trailer for the film. The result is a beautiful exercise in nostalgia, replete with booming voice-over, fuzzy VHS resolution, and horrible gradient typefaces.
