Great Movies’ First and Last Shots, Side by Side

Jacob T. Swinney’s latest supercut is a simple one—it juxtaposes the first and last shots of 55 great movies—but it casts a lovely spell, especially when it unearths a subtle, surprising connection between a film’s opening and close.

Of course, most of these shots bear no explicit relation to each other, but Swinney’s curation ensures that there’s always a transfixing composition on screen.
