Forget Björk’s MoMA Show—Her Carnegie Hall Performance Was Dazzling

Björk, in headdress, at Carnegie Hall.

Still from YouTube

Björk gave her first live performance of Vulnicura at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, playing nearly all the songs from her recently released album. Unlike her much-maligned MoMA exhibit, this performance was spare and simply produced.

Björk was accompanied by the 15-piece string ensemble Alarm Will Sound, a drummer, and the producer Arca, who collaborated with her on Vulnicura. Behind their heads a screen displayed the lyrics along with animations of the score by Stephen Malinowski.

You can watch a complete version of “Stonemilker,” which opened the concert, here.
