There’s So Much “Kane” in Citizen Kane

Orson Welles was born May 6, 1915, and today would have been his 100th birthday. Though there is no shortage of critical work on his immeasurably influential films, we prefer to celebrate by watching this ingenious supercut of every “Kane” spoken in Citizen Kane. (There are many.) Aisha Harris’ post on the video, originally published in February, is below.

I’m not sure how many times exactly the name “Kane” is uttered in Orson Welles’ masterpiece Citizen Kane, but, as this supercut amply demonstrates, it’s a lot. If you feel inclined to find out the definitive answer, now, finally, you can.

I’m not sure why exactly this thing exists, but its hard to argue with creator Duncan Robson’s assertion that it is “The every Kane in Citizen Kane of supercuts.”
