Following last year’s Sony hack scandal, which ended in the studio pulling The Interview from theaters before later releasing it on VOD, co-chairman Amy Pascal announced Thursday that she will be stepping down from her post. “As the slate for the next two years has come together, it felt like the right time to transition into this new role,” Pascal said in a statement. Pascal was one of several Sony higher-ups whose unsavory emails were leaked to the public. (She famously emailed producer Scott Rudin: “Should I ask Obama if he liked Django?” and later apologized for the racial insensitivity of her comments.)
Pascal, whose contract, Yahoo reports, was set to expire in March, will launch a new production company at Sony as part of a four-year agreement, starting in May.
