Following the inaugural “State of the Black Protest” episode of The Nightly Show, Larry Wilmore dedicated his second show to another highly contentious subject: The dozens of rape allegations against Bill Cosby. And it should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the host’s brand of comedy that he didn’t mince words: “That motherfucker did it,” he declared unapologetically in the opening monologue.
After taking Cosby and his defenders to task, Wilmore also brought on comedian Mike Yard to critique the entertainer’s handling of an audience heckler at one of his recent live performances. “Larry, I’ve been doing comedy for 20 years—I’ve seen a lot of alleged criminals on stage,” said Yard. “That doesn’t mean your act needs to be sloppy.”
