In the series finale of Twin Peaks—or, given the show’s miraculous resurrection, what used to be the series finale of Twin Peaks—Laura Palmer approaches Special Agent Dale Cooper in a blood-red room and utters a single sentence: “I’ll see you again in 25 years.” Now, almost exactly that amount of time later, it’s official: Kyle MacLachlan will return as Cooper for the series’ new season, which is set to air in 2016.

MacLachlan’s return was largely assumed—the show without Cooper wouldn’t really be the same show—but fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Alternatively, they can grab a damn fine cup of coffee and start getting excited, because everything about this revival—which Lynch has insisted is neither a reboot nor a prequel but a continuation of the show’s first two seasons—sounds fantastic.
