The Hollywood Foreign Press Association named their Golden Globes winners Sunday evening, and there was at least one big shock: Wes Anderson, who’s never been a favorite of the HFPA (this year marked his first Golden Globe nominations) or the academy, won Best Picture Musical or Comedy for The Grand Budapest Hotel. Budapest beat out its toughest competition in the category, Birdman (which took home two awards).

Boyhood was the biggest winner in the film categories, however, winning Best Drama, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress. Julianne Moore continued her successful awards season run, winning Best Actress in a Drama for her turn in the emotional drama Still Alice, while Eddie Redmayne beat out some formidable competition for Best Actor in a Drama with his performance as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything. For Best Actor and Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical, Michael Keaton and Amy Adams won for Birdman and Big Eyes.

Notably, in the television categories, none of the major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, or Fox) took home any awards, as the New York Times’ Movies Twitter feed pointed out. The HFPA did, on the other hand, show a lot of love for newcomers: Amazon’s critically beloved Transparent won big, taking home Best Television Series Comedy or Musical (the first show distributed through non-traditional means to do so), as well as Best Actor in a Television Series Comedy or Musical for Jeffrey Tambor. Another first-timer, Showtime’s The Affair, nabbed Best Television Drama and Best Actress in a Television Drama for Ruth Wilson.

Among the other surprise wins: Gina Rodriguez, who won her first Golden Globe for her lead role in Jane the Virgin, and How to Train Your Dragon 2, which beat out presumed favorite The Lego Movie.
