The Big Lebowski and True Detective are both stories about pairs of men with different worldviews confronting nihilism as they search for missing women. If you found the latter a bit self-serious, then you may find that this elegant mashup nicely punctures its pretensions.
But if, like me, you’re a fan of both works, you will likely just enjoy seeing them put in conversation. Does the Dude think time is a flat circle? He does, right? And Walter, like Marty, is a more religious man who has little patience for those who believe in nothing. I guess that’s the way the whole durned human comedy keeps perpetuatin’ itself, down through the generations.
