The first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released Friday both online and in theaters—and it works very hard to evoke the original trilogy (and perhaps to make us forget Episodes I through III).
It also succeeds, at least for me. If John Williams’ score has the same powerful effect on your nostalgia receptors that it does on mine, I don’t know how you can resist hearing it swell while the Millennium Falcon does some kind of crazy loop-de-loop.
Also, 2015’s R2-D2 equivalent is apparently a soccer ball with a slide projector on its head. I like it.
