Exciting news for Harry Potter fans: Nestled within Warner Bros.’ big announcement today of its plans for at least 10 new superhero movies was the news that J.K. Rowling’s 2001 Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be adapted into a movie trilogy. We’ve known about one planned film since earlier this year, with a planned release date of Nov. 18, 2016; now Warner Bros. has confirmed that there will be at least two more follow-up films in 2018 and 2020—with the possibility of more in the future.

The first film will be directed by David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter installments, and will focus on “magizoologist” Newt Scamander, the fictional author of the Fantastic Beasts textbook. It will be based on the first-ever screenplay by Rowling.
