Watch Bill Murray Do “Nick the Lounge Singer” for the Very First Time

As part of their weekly series The Second City Archives, Splitsider just shared this clip of Bill Murray performing as Nick the Lounge Singer for what the post says is the very first time. Murray crafted the character on the Second City stage in Chicago—supposedly inspired by local lounge act Jimmy Damon, who died last year—before bringing him to Saturday Night Live in 1977. (In 1978, he ensured the character’s immortality with a rendition of the Star Wars theme.)
