The Greatest Slow-Motion Sequences of All Time

I’m usually pretty skeptical of these lists that count down the top 10 uses of a particular cinematic technique, because they tend to honor the showiest uses of a particular device rather than the ones that best serve the movie.

Slow-motion, on the other hand, is pretty much always showy, and this video from Cinefix does a great job surveying a wide range of the different ways filmmakers have employed its special power—both to particular effects in service of the storytelling and just because it looks cool. I might make a few different choices here and there, but they explain their choices well, and even find some time along the way to explain some of the technical know-how that’s gone into constructing these classic slow-motion sequences.
