The Tomorrowland Trailer Is Unsurprisingly Mysterious and Pleasantly Intriguing

Recently, Entertainment Weekly revealed more details about the top-secret Tomorrowland film, Brad Bird’s upcoming sci-fi/fantasy adventure that takes its name from the futuristic theme land found in Disney theme parks. As described by Bird, the movie tells the story of a teen girl from Florida (Britt Robertson), who discovers a “mysterious pin” after getting into a bit of trouble—a pin that, when touched, shows her another world. Screenwriter Damon Lindelof, co-creator of Lost, invoked Harry Potter in his description: “She is a Muggle who accidentally wanders across Platform 9 ¾ and sees something she probably shouldn’t have.”

This is what we see in the first trailer—which also features George Clooney, though mostly in voiceover. (Clooney, according to the redundantly worded official synopsis, plays a “former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment”). Though we don’t get much in these two minutes, there is just enough intriguing detail sneaking through the deliberate cracks to make me want to see more.
