Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” Sounds Great as a ’40s Jazz Ballad

The folks of Postmodern Jukebox seem like masters of every genre imaginable, but to my ear they’re at their best when performing in a ’40s era jazz and swing style. They’ve applied that vintage treatment to Britney Spears’ “Womanizer” and Madonna’s “Like a Prayer,” and now they’ve taken Sam Smith’s summer hit “Stay With Me” and given it the same old-timey, sultry sheen.

Cristina Gatti supplies the vocal and the band is good as ever. Enjoy.
