The Black Keys’ latest album, Turn Blue, has yielded several fantastic new songs. Now we have the video for “Weight of Love,” the slow-burning album opener that, at almost seven minutes, clocks in as the record’s longest song.
The length isn’t a bad thing. “Weight of Love” is a departure from the band’s usual taut, hook-laden blues rock, but it’s still one of their best songs: bouyed by a tender vocal from Daniel Auerbach and tinged with a psychedelic sound, the track represents a moody, mature evolution of the duo’s work. The video itself begins with a short snippet of “Fever,” then follows a cult of women led by supermodel Lara Stone; the religious imagery and idyllic landscapes aren’t too of a piece with the song’s lyrics, but they do echo the track’s soulful overtones.
