Brow Beat

Watch a Supercut of James Brown’s Legacy in Dance

When Michael Jackson presented James Brown with the BET Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003, he said, “Nobody has influenced me more than this man right here.” To see what Jackson was talking about, you need only look at his dance moves—even his classic moonwalk took its shape from Brown’s own “camel walk.”

But of course Jackson is hardly the only artist to have borrowed some steps from Brown. We collected videos of just a few of the most notable artists—Prince, Mick Jagger, Janelle Monáe, Bruno Mars, and more—who have paid homage to the “Godfather of Soul” by performing his signature moves.
