It’s less obvious, at least to me, from watching the HBO series, but reading George R.R. Martin’s books—and I’ve only just begun—it seems clear that (speculative spoiler alert) Eddard Stark is not telling the truth about Jon Snow’s parentage. What’s more, a fairly persuasive theory is not hard to spot: Jon is, this theory goes, the son of Eddard’s sister, Lyanna, and Rhaegar Targaryen.
