Drake Sings “Let It Go” and Takes a Jab at Macklemore While Hosting the ESPYs

People love to make jokes at Drake’s expense—and he often makes it easy—but the rapper has proven time and again that he has a sense of humor about it all. Last night, he hosted the ESPYS, and, thanks mostly to that knack for comedy, was probably the best part of the evening.

He jumped on the “Let It Go” bandwagon—perhaps a few months late, but he pulled it off by singing in the voice of boxer Manny Pacquiao. And VEEP’s Gary Cole made the most of his cameo, playing Manny’s producer, who coaches him on the dynamics of performing the Frozen hit.

Performing a song called “Honorable Mention,” Drake charmed the crowd with a smooth, R&B-flavored roasting of athletes, including LeBron James and Danica Patrick. But perhaps the best moment of the song came early, when Drake made a sharp, if somewhat obvious, jab at Macklemore.

There were a few other amusing moments from Drake, including his showdown with Blake Griffin and the “Lance Cam”—a playful ribbing of Lance Stephenson, who infamously blew in the ear of LeBron James during the NBA playoffs. If Drake ever decides to do a variety show of his own, it might actually be worth watching.
