Watch Dave Chappelle’s First Late-Night Appearance in More Than Six Years

Dave Chappelle appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman Tuesday night. It was his first appearance on the Late Show in 10 years, and, as Splitsider noted, it was his first late-night appearance since an interview on Late Night With Conan O’Brien in 2008. He was there to promote his nine dates at Radio City Music Hall (and to announce that one of them will feature Nas), though they’re mostly all sold out.

The interview was remarkably subdued, with Chappelle seeming alternately guarded, thoughtful, and ready with jokes. (You can watch all the key parts of the interview above.) On the subject of leaving his show, he quipped, “Technically, I never quit. I’m seven years late for work.”
