Paying tribute to the digital age, last month’s Social Media Marketing World conference in San Diego gifted the world with “Let’s Get Social,” the pop anthem social media never knew it needed. Whether its creators intended it to or not, it’s now begun to go viral.
The brainchild of Phil Mershon, director of events for the conference presenter, “Let’s Get Social” covers all the social media basics: Klout scores, Facebook’s “Holy Grail” algorithm, “the Gram,” and bacon (yes, bacon). And while one of the attendees, Mary McCoy, sings its ridiculous lyrics, Mershon steals her thunder at the end when he inexplicably throws on a hat and sunglasses for a bizarre “conscious” rap PSA: “I hope as we scatter we never forget/ That our posts live forever even when we go to bed.” Tweet responsibly.
