This Five-Minute Cover Breathes New Life Into Beyoncé

Every week, Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying of Pentatonix upload videos to YouTube under the moniker Superfruit. In between quirky games and pop-culture musings, the duo occasionally uploads covers of popular songs. This week Superfruit takes on Beyoncé.

Unable to pick just one of the 17 songs from the pop juggernaut’s self-titled album, they concocted a seamless cover of the entire album in less than six minutes. With vocal instrumentation, looped in piano and background vocals (recorded by Hoying and Grassi, respectively), and finger snapping, the two expertly recreate Beyoncé’s crowning glories—surfbort included.

A particularly superb moment: Hoying’s use of the “Drunk In Love” Middle Eastern-inspired intro to transition into the first few notes of “Rocket.”

Correction, March 17, 2014: The headline for this post originally misstated that the medley of Beyoncé songs was a cappella. It's not.
