Since its first edition in 2003, Stephen Jay Schneider’s 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die has provided an evolving list for film lovers to debate and discuss. Filmmaker Jonathan Keogh has based his latest video on Schneider’s canon, creating an incredible supercut of 1,001 movies, plus 215 of his own picks thrown in for good measure.
According to Keogh, it took him “one year to the date” to create it, and it shows. More than just a barrage of well-timed film clips, images are assembled according to aesthetic themes and using a variety of editing techniques, including split-screen and rotating grid blocks. In its 10-minute run-time, the video never gets lazy or boring. Enjoy.
