Moviefone Is Dead, but Will Live On in Seinfeld Reruns

After 25 years of delivering showtimes to moviegoers across the country, Moviefone announced over the weekend that it will be hanging up its phones. If you know the name of the movie you’d like to see, you’ll just have to use the free Moviefone app.

But while Moviefone’s “speech-enabled system” and energetic greeting (“Hello, and welcome to Moviefone”) will soon be no more, one can at least take comfort in the fact that they will linger on in pop culture. At the very least, the news will be a boon to Moviefone’s main competitor, Cosmo Kramer.
