I was happy to hear that Idina Menzel would be performing “Let It Go,” the much-discussed and Oscar-nominated ballad from Frozen at the upcoming Academy Awards. Demi Lovato has recorded her own version, but few would argue, I suspect, that it has quite the same force as the original.
Some of the best non-Menzel renditions don’t take the song too seriously, and performer Christina Bianco’s recent version is a perfect example. She effortlessly moves between the the vocal stylings of several pop divas, including Menzel, Barbara Streisand, Britney Spears, Céline Dion, Adele, and more, nailing each singers’ idiosyncrasies. It’s enough to make you wish Alanis Morrisette would record her own cover version (really!).
