The World’s Greatest Michael Caine Impressions Are Back for a Rematch

Still from YouTube

In The Trip, Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon stared each other down in a battle of Michael Caine impressions so epic that the scene went viral, in many ways surpassing the fame of the original movie. (If you’ve never seen the clip, head straight to YouTube.)

Now director Michael Winterbottom has gotten them together for a sequel, The Trip to Italy, which of course means more food, more improvised dialogue, and, perhaps most importantly, even more dueling Michael Caine impressions. In fact, in this clip they take on not just Michael Caine, but the whole cast of The Dark Knight Rises.

The sequel debuted this week at Sundance to good reviews, and reportedly also features impressions of Marlon Brando, Pierce Brosnan, Al Pacino, Paul McCartney, Roger Moore (singing Simon & Garfunkel), Anthony Hopkins, Hugh Grant, Humphrey Bogart, Robert De Niro, Woody Allen, and more. As a fan of the first movie, I can’t wait. (Via Indiewire.)
