American Hustle was the winningest film at the Golden Globe Awards this evening, with awards for best picture, best actress (Amy Adams), and best supporting actress (Jennifer Lawrence) in the musical or comedy categories. Dallas Buyers Club won two, with Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto winning for best actor and best supporting actor in a drama, respectively.
Surprisingly, critical favorite and seven-time nominee 12 Years a Slave went home with only one award, though it was the big one—best picture, drama. So as with Argo last year, its odds for the best picture Oscar remain strong. (Academy Award nominations will be announced this Thursday, Jan. 16.)
In the television categories, Breaking Bad capped off a successful final season with awards for best dramatic series and its star Bryan Cranston, while newcomer Brooklyn Nine-Nine surprised many with awards for best comedy series and best actor for its star Andy Samberg.
