Christopher Nolan Heads Into Space in Teaser for Interstellar

Now that he’s free from finishing up his Dark Knight trilogy, Christopher Nolan is back to writing and directing original films. We don’t see much of his mysterious next effort, Interstellar, in this new teaser released this morning—the film apparently follows a team of astronauts after they travel through a wormhole—but we do get a sense of where he’s going. Just as Alfonso Cuarón did with Gravity, Nolan seems to want to restore some wonder to space.

We won’t get to see whether he succeeds until next year, but the talent Nolan has rounded up is encouraging. Nolan co-wrote the film with longtime screenwriting partner Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight, Memento, The Prestige), and the film stars, in addition to the on-fire-lately Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Ellen Burstyn, Michael Caine, David Oyelowo, Casey Affleck, and Matt Damon. Interstellar is due out Nov. 7, 2014.
