Eddie Murphy appeared on The Arsenio Hall Show last night, and the old friends bantered back and forth with the natural ease that has characterized most of the late night host’s interviews. Unsurprisingly, talk turned to Coming to America, their classic comedy hit, which turned 25 this year.
Much to fans’ dismay, Prince Akeem (Murphy) and Semmi (Hall) have never returned for a sequel, and the comedian explained why. Or at least, it seems like he did—it’s hard to tell how much of Murphy’s reveal is true and how much is a joke (perhaps it’s somewhere in between), but it’s pretty funny either way.
