If Gravity Was Set in IKEA, It Would Look Like This

The layout of the standard IKEA, which ensures that customers must pass through every section of the store in order to exit it, is an insufferable ploy meant to encourage impulse buys. Shopping there can be incredibly disorienting. Sort of like being stuck in space.

Daniel Hubbard noticed, and he wrote this funny parody of Gravity, “Alfonso Cuaón’s ‘IKEA,’ ” which stars himself and Alex Viola. Don’t miss the light jabs at the inherent campiness of Gravity itself. (“My baby!” Viola cries randomly at one point while curled up on a sofa.) I’m almost sad Cuarón didn’t actually make this movie.
