Spotted: Sneakers Fans at CAPTCHA

As Slate’s special issue on Sneakers revealed, fans of the 1992 cyber caper are surprisingly legion. Or at least they are among the staff of our magazine.

As I recently learned while watching my girlfriend purchase some tickets online, they also seem to number among the folks behind Ticketmaster’s frustrating CAPTCHAs, who share the movie’s passion for encryption.
