Arcade Fire Gets Even More Disco With New Song, “Afterlife”

When “Reflektor,” the first single from Arcade Fire’s eponymous upcoming album, we noted that it was dancier and more disco-ish than most Arcade Fire songs, either because of producer James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem fame or maybe because everyone is in the mood for disco right now.

Whatever the reason, the second single, “Afterlife,” is even dancier and more disco still. The lyric video went up today, with the words to the superimposed over images from Marcel Camus’ Orfeu Negro (Black Orpheus), a retelling of the Greek legend in which Orpheus descends into the Underworld to find his love, Eurydice. Enjoy.
